Thanks to the Board of Trustees for sharing this message with the community

At the beginning of the holidays Sylvia Fidow attended the first stage of an interview for West Rolleston Primary School Principal. This is a Foundation Principal role and one of very few opportunities available in New Zealand of this kind. Whilst the school opens in 2016, the role commences first term of 2015. Sylvia has had a very heavy heart in deciding to apply for this role as we all know she loves her job, but saw this as an amazing opportunity to challenge herself and after much consultation with her peers and mentors decided it would be a good opportunity to go through the process. It is with mixed emotions that we can advise you all that Sylvia was the successful candidate, beating out some other very high caliber applicants. As I am sure you will agree, Sylvia is an amazing Principal and as we have all witnessed she has lead Shirley Primary with the greatest of integrity, she has been extremely dedicated and motivated to get Shirley Primary to where it is today. As a Board and staff we will celebrate and support this great achievement with Sylvia and give assurances that Shirley Primary will continue to be the progressive and successful school it is today. The board will be meeting in the coming weeks to decide when we will commence in the process of recruiting a new Principal. We are delighted that we have a strong and committed Leadership team and a highly capable staff that will continue to provide the caring and nurturing, future focused learning environment for all our Shirley Superstars. I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, STAFF, STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY AS I MOVE ONTO THE NEXT STAGE OF MY EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP JOURNEY.
