ERO report now on-line

I was browsing our school website and whilst visiting ERO on the vertical menu (does that have a name?) I saw that our recent school review is available now for all to view.

So...take a look! We are really excited by the all of the positive statements the reviewers made about our school community. We rock!

Tsunami fundraiser

Congratulations to all of our Shirley Superstars (including our fantastic PTA who made it all possible) who bought money in for our tsunami fundraiser mufti day and sausage sizzle on Friday. We had two families each donate $100 and I think we raised more than $600, will confirm amount later.

What a great start to the term, look out for the story and some photos in the ChCh Mail (thanks Miss K for sending them in).

Technology Market

The market on Friday was a real success. Big congrats to the staff and students. The students were clearly able to describe the learning that had taken place in creating their market 'wares' and they enjoyed selling and buying! We had a great community turn out. Roll on the fair for 2010...

Well done to our Year 5/6 football, rugby and netball teams who enjoyed a fantastic season of sport at hagley park. Thanks to the coaches Miss Megan Croucher, Miss Lauren Senior, Ms Nicki McKenzie, Mr Ben Galletly, Mr Robin McKenzie, Ms Trycia Rayner and Ms Rachel Von Landkammer.

I still think it is wonderful that all of our students have the opportunity to participate in team sport during the winter, part of the fun is just getting on the bus!

Bring on the milo cricket series; wouldn't that be fun....

I am very excited by our technology unit this term - it is the revised Curriculum in action. Lots of examples of students managing their own learning, problem solving, working co-operatively and thinking! Big thumbs up to our teachers for their hard work in planning and preparation and the staff movie we made to 'excite' and 'engage' students was magic..

July 20 Looms...

The holidays are drawing to a close. I have had a lovely time with my family but I have also used the time very productively at work to read!, sort out some of my files, cull and have a general tidy up of my office and the office area. Looking forward to speaking at the 'Teachers Matter' Conference with Sarah tomorrow.

Relaxing at the weekend; enjoying the fruitful work of our webmasters (alias talented classroom teachers Mr Gunn and Miss K!). Thanks for assisting me into the 21st century....
